I advanced an idea of support of Human Rights through Civil Rights,such as the Right to Vote. That voter turnout is apathetic is puttig things mildly.yet those of us that debble in American History know that the one man one vote idea did not come from Europe or at least not the Europe of the Middle Ages. The reason I say that voting for Regional Representation was not a European idea is because most of Europe was a Feudal System of Kings and Queens and their Royal Families. Pions and serfs or better put non property owning slaves was the order of the times when the Wave of Immigrants seeking to improve their Cast came across the ocean to a Paradise where the inhabitants knew what Freedom was. Well bringing things back to today here in San Antonio TX, in Bexar County their are people in Beuracratic positions that they weild as if they had being ordained by a Pope instead of being elected by the People. The Struggle for Civil Rights was because the descendants of those European Immigrants wanted to continue their version of the Feudal System on Non-Whites and Women. I say all this in hopes that who reads this undrestands that whatever small amount of Freedom and or Human Dignity we enjoy today is for all People not just the Ordained Priviledged. I coordinated a Voters Registration Drive in Bexar County Jail to increase Voter interest in the Right to cast a vote for representation in local government,as well as to drive the point home that we all have equal rights. Can the U.S. government take a woman's baby from her because she doesn't speak English? That's the latest question to arise in the hothouse debate over illegal immigration, as an undocumented woman from impoverished rural Mexico â€” who speaks only an obscure indigenous language â€” fights in a Mississippi court to regain custody of her infant daughter.

Cirila Baltazar Cruz comes from the mountainous southern state of Oaxaca, a region of Mexico that makes Appalachia look affluent. To escape the destitution in her village of 1,500 mostly Chatino Indians, Baltazar Cruz, 34, migrated earlier this decade to the U.S., hoping to send money back to two children she'd left in her mother's care. She found work at a Chinese restaurant on Mississippi' s Gulf Coast.

But Baltazar Cruz speaks only Chatino, barely any Spanish and no English. Last November, she went to Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss., where she lives, to give birth to a baby girl, RubÃ. According to documents obtained by the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger, the hospital called the state Department of Human Services (DHS), which ruled that Baltazar Cruz was an unfit mother in part because her lack of English "placed her unborn child in danger and will place the baby in danger in the future."

RubÃ was taken from Baltazar Cruz, who now faces deportation. In May, a Jackson County judge gave the infant to a couple (it is unclear if for foster care or adoptive purposes) who reportedly live in Ocean Springs. Baltazar Cruz is challenging the ruling in Jackson County Youth Court and hopes that if she is deported she can at least take RubÃ back to Mexico with her. Before the gag order, advocates for Baltazar Cruz had charged that the problems sprang from faulty translation at Singing River. Baltazar Cruz arrived at the hospital after she flagged down a Pascagoula police officer on a city street. She was later joined there by a Chatino-speaking relative, according to MIRA, but the hospital declined his services and instead used a translator from state social services, an American of Puerto Rican descent who spoke no Chatino and whose Spanish was significantly different from that spoken in Mexico.

According to the Clarion-Ledger, the state report portrayed Baltazar Cruz as virtually a prostitute, claiming she was "exchanging living arrangements for sex" in Pascagoula and planned to put the child up for adoption. Through her advocates (before the gag order), Baltazar Cruz adamantly denied those claims. Since "she has failed to learn the English language," the newspaper quotes the documents as saying, she was "unable to call for assistance for transportation to the hospital" to give birth. The social-services translator also reported that Baltazar Cruz had put RubÃ in danger because she "had not brought a cradle, clothes or baby formula." But indigenous Oaxacan mothers traditionally breast feed their babies for a year and rarely use bassinets, carrying their infants instead in a rebozo, a type of sling.

MIRA has accused Singing River and Mississippi DHS of essentially "stealing" RubÃ. Citing the gag order, DHS will not comment on Baltazar Cruz's case, but before the order, an official insisted to the Clarion-Ledger that "the language a person speaks has nothing to do with the outcome of the investigation. " Singing River spokesman Richard Lucas calls the MIRA charge "preposterous" and, while noting that the nonprofit hospital delivered Baltazar Cruz's baby free of charge, insists it "did what any good hospital would have done given her unusual circumstances" by alerting DHS.

Still, despite DHS statements to the contrary, language seems a central issue in the state's case against Baltazar Cruz. It wouldn't be the first time this has happened in the U.S. In 2004 a Tennessee judge ordered into foster care the child of a Mexican migrant mother who spoke only an indigenous tongue. (Another judge later returned the child to her family.) Last year, a California court took custody of the U.S.-born twin babies of another indigenous, undocumented migrant from Oaxaca. After she was deported, the Oaxaca state government's Institute for Attention to Migrants fought successfully to have the twins repatriated to her in Mexico this summer. In such cases, says the SPLC's Bauer, a lack of interpreters is a key factor. When a mother can't follow the proceedings, "she looks unresponsive, and that conveys to a judge a lack of interest in the child, which is clearly not the case," she says. She also argues it's hard enough for any adult to learn a new language, "let alone when you're a migrant working long hours for low pay."

One of DHS's apparent fears is that an infant isn't safe in a home where the mother can articulate a 911 call solely in a language spoken only by some 50,000 Oaxacan Indians. Bauer points out that children have been raised safely in the U.S. by non-English- speaking parents for well over a century. Had they not, thousands of Italians and Russians would have had to leave their kids with foster care on Ellis Island. "Raising your child is one of the most fundamental liberties, and it can only be taken from you for the most serious concerns of endangerment, " says Bauer. "Not speaking English hardly meets that standard."

Rosalba PiÃ±a, a Chicago attorney who co-hosts a local radio program on immigration law, agrees. She likens Mississippi officials to those who fought to keep 6-year-old EliÃ¡n Gonzalez in the U.S. nine years ago because they argued his life would be better here than in impoverished Cuba with his father. "They're ignoring basic U.S. and international law," says PiÃ±a. "Unless there's some real threat to the child's life back in the home country, most judges know it's in the child's best interest to be with his parents." In the end, she notes, RubÃ is a U.S. citizen who could return to this country at any time as an adult.

The next court hearing in Baltazar Cruz's case is slated for November. In the meantime, Mexican consular officials in the U.S. struck an agreement with Mississippi authorities this month to ensure that Mexico will be informed when nationals like Baltazar Cruz become embroiled in cases like this. Says Daniel Hernandez Joseph, director of Mexico's program for protection of citizens abroad: "The main concern of the Mexican government is not to separate immigrant families." Baltazar Cruz now has to persuade Mississippi judges that it should be their concern too.

This Protest is to remind all that the T.D.Hutto Residential Center will not be closing but merely shifting detainee population. Children will be sent to Berks Co. Penn. an 82 bed facility,yet there are at least127 children at T.D.Hutto. Many questions remain. Women are the core the heart of the family unit. T.D. Hutto will imprison mainly women only after Dec.2009 when the contract between CCA and Williamson Co. expires. But when necessary children may still be imprisoned at T.D. Hutto.

Texas State Legislature is in session and we must support the Resolution to close T.D.Hutto Family Residential Center. For those that still don`t know T.D. Hutto is a private run Prison for profit. Run by Corrections Corporation of America. Asylum seeking Families. Refugees fleeing either natural disasters, civil wars, even people with expired visas. None having commited any crime other than to look to this government for a safe place in which to live . Children imprisoned as part of a scare tactic that enriches the greedy. Grassroots groups from Austin put together a resolution to close T.D.Hutto, this resolution will probably not even be discussed since our Texas Legislature is looking for ways to deny people their Right to Vote.

This Treaty is what sets the International Border between the U.S. and Mejico. The Treaty of Guadalupe y Hidalgo or the Queretaro Protocol came into being due to the U.S. expansionist philosophy of Manifest Destiny. The U.S. wanted the territories of the southwest and attempted to purchase Texas several times from The Mexican Government. Mexico refused to sell and that led to aggression and ultimately invasion and war. While Mexico claimed the colonial right from Spain over the territories that the U.S. desired Mexico or New Spain as it was first named by the Spanish when they invaded the lands. The indigenous people that originally inhabited these lands were never asked if they wanted to sell or did they ever consider the native people as equals. The Spanish took the lands through warfare and forced the people to assimilate or die. Either kiss the cross or kiss the sword. That was the beginning of loss of our indigenous identity . Mechica is our race of people, the Spanish stole our identity and now it is a Nationality linked to a misnomer Hispanic or Latino. None of the egocentric Colonial powers that invaded and divided this continent among themselves ever entered into an accord or treaty with the native people that they honored. In 1848 the U.S. signed still another Treaty that they to this day make a mockery of, for not only did they exploit their military might to take what a militarily weaker government refused to sell but through that invasion and subsequent land grab further alienated the native Mechica from our identity. When we have Marched and Rallied in the past we cryout "una gente sin fronteras " or no borders no nations no deportations. I say these things because of my indigenous blood ties and binds me to my mother as it does with all native people. What is being done today against the Mexican race is in violation not only of political laws but most important acainst natural laws . You cannot remove a people from their lands occupy them and then deny them entry onto their own ancestral home. Oct. 13th we will march and rally in recognition of our indigenous heritage and for our human rights.

On June the 30th we confronted the Minutemen and the Border Watch Rascist groups. They were in San Antonio at the federal prosecutors office, Mr. John Sutton`s office to be precise. They were conducting a hate protest against Mr. Sutton for having prosecuted two rogue Border Patrol agents.These two Border agents shot a man in the back, for crossing the border without papers. They shot 15 rounds at him and when they apprehended him they violently assaulted him, beating him severely. They then did a cover up. Fortunately there are good Border agents, they testified against Mr. Cumpian and Mr. Ramos. Mr. John Sutton offered them a few months probation but they refused. I`m pretty sure they thought that they could shoot and beat up Mexicans and no one would care. They were wrong, what they did was and is a crime. Mr. Sutton did his job , he prosecuted the two criminals, that betrayed their oath to uphold the law. The Minutemen and Border Watch did what true hate mongering fascist do; they used the situation to galvanize confused people onto their side . The family members of the criminal Border agents gave testimony as to the innocence of their family members. The Minutemen And Border Watch are buying these Mexican-Americans, they have setup bank accounts and they petition for donations for the family members. Buying their loyalty. Using the anger of the family to recruit members into their fascist movement. I can tell it is getting scary it is so reminiscent of the Nazi`s of the 1930`s and 40`s. Their tactics are carbon copy of that evil and corrupt machinery that engulfed Europe in a Holocaust that almost wiped out the Jewish people off the face of this earth. We were there to say the truth about the two Border Agents regardless of their ethnicity, they violently violated the human rights of that man that they attempted to murder and if that wasn`t corrupt enough abuse of police authority they tried to cover it up by threats and coercion against there fellow Border Agents. The agents had to be given immunity from prosecution in order to be able to testify to the truth. These fascist hate groups in order to spread there ideology of fear, mistrust and hate against the Mexican people will do whatever, even call these two misguided Mexican-American Border Agent criminals their Hero Lawmen. Don`t be fooled we know that they are filled with nothing but loathing for all our people. Just as Hitler and his henchmen bid their time until they were in complete control before putting their ethnic cleansing into effect. The ovens still hold the essence of the Jewish people humanity within their walls. We will speak up for those that are unable to do so for themselves. When I am asked where were you when they came for your neighbor? I will answer by his side defending his human rights. Where will you stand in the end of the End Game?

C. ,Wackenhut and all the greedy private prison corporations that are turning the land of the free into a prison nation that we the people are not ready to be led into concentration camps and will not sit idlly by, as children are being deprived of their innocence behind private prisons for profit. DEFENDING OUR HUMAN RIGHTS

June 16th 2007 - The Minutemen descended onto Austin on the southside entrance to the Capitol steps and held a rally there. We went in protest to their rally. We refused to stay beyond the entrance gate and came within 30 or 40 feet of their speakers area. They had different speakers including the wife of an injured Border patrol Agent of Mexican descent as well as an ex- Border Agent giving testimonial, also a teacher out of the Houston area. Their approach at propaganda is not unique instead it is very similar to that used by different fascist organizations at the turn of the 20th century throughout Europe. They carried signs berating Mexico, also signs attacking government officials, they also planted American Flags throughout their staging area.They spoke of Homeland insecurity by Mexican invasion and of how this is a land of laws and that the Mexican is a criminal. I responded to that speech with how they are more heavily draped in ignorance than the flags that they wrap themselves in. I reminded them that the ones that invaded these lands were their ancestors a mere 150 years ago, and how their war hasn`t stopped, but now instead of hanging Mexicans resisting the invasions . They simply declare them foreignors on their own soil, illegals that should be tracked down, deported or imprisoned. I shouted to them that we could see through their racism and asked them why couldn't they see this as a Human issue born of necessity. They raised a sign that read Security crisis not work crisis. I yelled to them Fascim at work on our Capitol steps , the scapegoating of a race of people in order to galvanize a movement has been done in the past . Against the native peoples in order to commit horrible acts of inhumanity to make possible to populate the lands that the native people once called home with what this foundling government intended white settlers. Demonizing a people so as not to associate guilt to the acts of murder of children, the rape of women the removal of a race of people from there homelands is how this government began, this is its origin. The teacher spoke of how 72 different languages were spoken at the high school she teaches at, she went on to advocate for english only. They all cheered and held up a sign that read "If you can`t read this you don`t belong here". We all yelledout different quotes from "go back to England" ,"Your racsism is showing", "Colonialism is the root of your ignorance", and "Can`t you count 72 is more than one" . The dumbing down of our young through fear and hate mongers is a sad picture when painted by a supposed teacher in an accredited school system in our state of Texas. I will shorten my report by telling you that one of our sisters was arrested at the Capitol , Saturday June 16th for practicing peaceful civil disobedience. As the State Troopers were handcuffing Rebecca. I commented to them why they hadn`t taken the same measures with the group from the Minutemen that had purposely walked through the center of our group in an obvious attempt to provoke violence, the anglo trooper in charge said "I was turned away and didn`t see it" to which I replied " You mean you turned a blind eye". I made other comments to the black troopers about how this was close to June 19th Emancipation Day, and what Dr.King said of "How it is our obligation to break unjust laws through peaceful civil disobedience" and "How everything Hitler did in Nazi Germany was legal". His only comment was that she had been warned and now she was under arrest. I quickly got on my cell phone contacted the media and an attorney through another activist. Thanks Marcelo for being there in Solidarity. Genocide, Slavery, Prison Camps, Tortures, Rapes, Mutilations of Human beings can only happen if " We turn a blind eye and pretend we don`t see". Wake-up People. Or History will repeat itself. We live in a circle.
